Draft for review. This hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer and isn't in effect yet. Items in [brackets] are still to be filled in.
Terms of use
Effective [date]. These terms cover the hosted LawFive service at app.lawfive.app and api.lawfive.app, run by [publisher's legal name] ("we"). By using it you agree to them.
The service
LawFive helps soccer referees run matches on a watch and keep a record of them. The hosted service is by invitation for now, and it's free today. If we add paid plans, they'll be optional, and we'll tell you before anything you use starts to cost money.
Your account
You need to be old enough under our privacy policy. Keep your password safe, give an email address that's yours, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You're responsible for what happens under it.
Your content
What you put in LawFive stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, sync it to your devices and show it where you ask, such as through a share link. You can download it or delete it at any time. Only add other people's details, and photos of them, when you have the right to.
Acceptable use
Don't break the law with LawFive, abuse or harass anyone through it, try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, overload the service, or use it to store things unrelated to refereeing in bulk. We may set limits on storage and requests to keep it working for everyone.
Refereeing decisions are yours
LawFive is a tool. It doesn't replace your own timekeeping, judgment or official match reports, and watches can run out of battery, restart or lose signal. Keep a backup way to time a match where it matters. You're responsible for your decisions and reports.
The Laws of the Game quiz is written for LawFive to help you practice. It may contain mistakes, and the Laws themselves are what count. LawFive isn't affiliated with or endorsed by The IFAB, FIFA, US Soccer, The FA, Garmin, Apple or Google. Fee tracking is only your own record: LawFive doesn't move money.
Not medical advice
Heart rate, speed, distance and the figures worked out from them are estimates for your interest. They aren't medical advice and aren't for diagnosing or treating anything. Talk to a doctor about your health.
Availability
We try to keep the service running and your data safe, but it's provided as it is, without warranties, and it may change or stop. Use Download everything to keep your own copy of what matters. If we ever shut the hosted service down, we'll give at least [30] days' notice so you can take your data, or move it to your own server.
Open source
LawFive's software is open source under the [MIT license]. These terms are about our hosted service, not the software. If you run your own server, or someone else does for you, these terms don't apply to that server.
Ending things
You can delete your account whenever you like (here's how). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we'll tell you why unless we can't.
Liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to [the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or US$50]. Nothing here limits rights that the law says can't be limited, including consumer rights where you live.
Changes and contact
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll tell you before it takes effect. They're governed by the laws of [jurisdiction]. Questions go to support@lawfive.app.
